Hilary Aiken (Director) MCSP

Andrea Bird MCSP
Andy qualified in 1991 and specialised in musculoskeletal out patients in 1994. She worked for the NHS for ten years before moving solely into private practice. Andy loves to work holistically to uncover the root cause of an injury. She combines hands-on treatment with exercises to promote efficient movement.
Andy’s special interests are dinghy sailing and cycling.

Claudine Chiplin BSc (Hons) MCSP HCPC
Claudine graduated with honours in 1990 and worked in the NHS for eight years before moving into private practice, where she has continued to develop her interest in working with the whole sports
spectrum of elite athletes, through to weekend warriors and their supporters. A background in sport as a competitor and Physiotherapist helps Claudine understand the ever-increasing demands that sport and daily life place on the body. The last decade has seen Claudine set-up and establish the In-house Physiotherapy triage clinic for the students and tutors at The Guildford School of Acting.
With a Post-Graduate Diploma in Physiotherapy for Sports Injuries and skills and experience as an Accredited Life Coach with a Health Coaching Diploma, Claudine’s approach to her patients is holistic and positive, aiming to collaborate with patient’s in helping them achieve their treatment goals.

Karen Painter MCSP AACP
Karen trained at the Middlesex Hospital and qualified in 1991. She worked at Whipps Cross Hospital in London before heading off to New Zealand to work in both hospital and private practice. On her return she spent two years at Woking Community Hospital and has since been based in at the West Byfleet Physiotherapy Clinic for the past 16 years.
Karen has over 25 years experience in physiotherapy.
She has a keen interest in treating headaches, musculoskeletal problems and using acupuncture which can be included within the treatment session if indicated.

Shernaz Screwvala BSc MCSP POGP
Shernaz Screwvala is an experienced Senior Chartered Physiotherapist and is a Clinical Specialist with over 20 years’ experience in Pelvic Health which includes Obstetric, Gynaecological and Urology conditions in women and men.
She belongs to the Association of Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy UK (POGP).
Shernaz specialises in treating gynaecological conditions such as incontinence of bladder and bowel, prolapse and pelvic pain. She is qualified to do Advance Manual Therapy for pelvic pain.
She will assess and treat the musculoskeletal problems that occur pre and post childbirth. i.e. low back pain, pelvic girdle pain symphysis pubis pain and diastasis/ divarication of recti (abdominal muscle separation)
She is able to offer an early comprehensive post-natal assessment of abdominals, back pelvic floor and pelvic problems including advice, treatments as required and progressive exercises to fitness.
Shernaz is also available to treat a variety of conditions, for example, treating post prostectomy incontinence in men.
Shernaz has recently completed a course on exercises for Bone Health (Osteopaenia and Osteoporosis). She will be able to give a regime of exercises to improve bone health after individual assessments
She is also a qualified Pilates instructor (APPI trained) and runs both individual Pilates sessions and classes locally.

Matthew Painter
Matt qualified as a Physiotherapist from the University of Hertfordshire in 2021 and has since gained experience working across both the NHS and private sector. He currently divides his time between private practice, the NHS, and working with the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), where he provides Physiotherapy support to Premier League match officials.
Alongside his Physiotherapy degree, he is also a qualified Personal Trainer and Sports Massage Therapist, and is trained in delivering Shockwave Therapy.
He has a particular interest in Sports and Musculoskeletal injuries, as well as shoulder and neck conditions. In his NHS role, he has been involved in developing and leading a Physiotherapy-based shoulder clinic, helping patients with a wide range of shoulder problems return to full function.
Bringing together this breadth of experience, he works holistically with a strong patient-centred focus — tailoring treatment to each individual’s needs and goals. He is committed to ongoing learning, regularly completing additional courses and qualifications to ensure he delivers the highest standard of care.
Whether supporting someone back to sport, improving day-to-day movement, or helping manage long-term pain, Matt focuses on personalised treatment plans designed to get patients back to what matters most to them.

Sheryl Jared MCSP HCPC
Sheryl qualified from King’s College London in 2019, has gained experience in all areas of acute community physiotherapy while working in the NHS. Sheryl provides personalized physiotherapy treatments using a range of approaches to work towards achieving her patient goals.
She has a special interest in neurological rehabilitation with neurological disorder such as stroke, Parkinson’s, spinal cord injury and multiple sclerosis. Having completed her Bobath training she is able to provide a hands-on, functional approach that facilitates efficient and effective treatment.
Sheryl is also a qualifies sports massage therapist and uses a variety of massage techniques to reduce pain, relieve muscle tension and improve performance.

Julie Stroscio
Julie graduated from Kings College Hospital London in 1987. After 2 years of working in the NHS, she moved to Canada, where she worked in both the local hospital and private practice clinics.
After 10 years, she returned to the UK and started working at Hillview physiotherapy Clinic in Woking and practised there for 23 years, before joining us at West Byfleet at the beginning of this year.
Julie is an ex-international gymnast, so understands how much high-level athletes
need to train and stay healthy to maximise their performances and takes a keen interest in Sports injuries as well as injuries that happen to the non-athlete.
Whilst in Canada, Julie became interested in Cranio-Sacral Therapy and continues to follow the Upledger System finding it a useful adjunct to her physiotherapy skills,
as it helps her with the more complex conditions where many aspects of health are
intertwined. She is also qualified in Pilates to APPI level1 mat work and is enjoying taking a Pilates reformer class now and may even take a reformer instructors course.
